Community Prevention Coordinator
The Community Prevention Coordinator (CPC) will be responsible for leading the efforts of the College to implement preventive strategies to reduce illegal and high risk alcohol and other drug consumption. The
CPC will work with our Campus Community Coalition in these efforts. In accordance with the recommendations outlined in the Coalition’s 2016 external review, and by utilizing the Strategic Prevention Framework as the basis for general day-to-day activities, the CPC will work collaboratively with the College’s Alcohol and Other Drug Program Coordinator and other members of the Coalition and College community to develop and implement a comprehensive action plan that encompasses assessment, capacity building, planning, implementing, and evaluating activities associated with College prevention priorities. The CPC will help guide the Coalition to develop and implement strategies that will lead to long‐term involvement of community institutions, organizations, and individuals to reduce illegal and high risk alcohol and other drug consumption. The CPC will also be responsible for ensuring that all of the necessary OASAS reporting requirements, including monthly reports, quarterly expense reports, an annual budget/work plan, and a final report are completed and submitted.
Masters’ degree and relevant experience in public health or health education, administration, policy/planning, or in community/organizational psychology; OR bachelor’s degree and five years of appropriate experience in managing or coordinating college/community‐based public health or health‐related agency could be substituted for an advanced degree. Extensive knowledge of community-based prevention strategies and evidence-based approaches to prevention.
1. At least two years of experience with health education programs in college setting
2. Proven ability to work independently and excellent organizational, planning, program development, and assessment skills
3. Public relations or marketing skills and excellent interpersonal and communication skills
4. Coalition-building skills
5. Knowledge of the Strategic Prevention Framework and the OASAS Prevention Framework
6. Familiarity and comfort with reporting outcomes in web‐based system
Please note: This is a grant funded position with an initial temporary appointment of 12 months and possibility of renewal for up to three years.
