Advertised Job Summary
Under general supervision, reporting to the Senior Director of Development for the School of Medicine, the Associate Director of Alumni Relations & Development supports the operations of the Office of Development and Alumni Relations by designing and implementing successful events and programs designed to strengthen relationships with alumni, and interest School of Medicine initiatives and priorities. The Associate Director is charged with implementing and managing all alumni engagement programming, overseeing annual appeal programs and collateral; coordinating special events & sponsorship solicitations, and managing alumni and student volunteers for School of Medicine events and programs. In collaboration with the Senior Director of Development, the Associate Director additionally works with the Senior Director to develop cohesive cultivation and stewardship strategies for alumni prospects and donors. This position will operate within the system and procedures of Development to ensure consistent and well-coordinated activities. The Director demonstrates commitment to conducting business lawfully and ethnically by consistently adhering to compliance policies, procedures and regulations.Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)
Bachelor's degree and 4 years related related experience in alumni development, fundraising, prospect research, or business development. Ability to conduct regular day travel and/or overnight travel in SC, NC, and GA. Ability to conduct more extensive travel on occasion. Occasional evenings and/or evening work required, primarily around special events.Preferred Qualifications
Fundraising or development experience in higher education. Familiarity and/or experience in the medical profession and/or a healthcare/health sciences field.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Appropriate knowledge of fundraising and development principles and procedures. Comfortable in being a part of a comprehensive fundraising program and in cultivating /soliciting gifts. Ability to establish effective working relationships with donors, alumni, faculty, volunteers, development and university colleagues. Outstanding oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills. Willingness to travel as required by the geographic location of donors/prospects. Ability to travel and work evenings and weekends as necessary. Effective computer experience including word processing and the ability to learn donor database operation. Required to conduct business lawfully and ethically by consistently adhering to compliance policies, procedures and regulations.
