Advertised Job Summary
In addition to serving as the primary contact for parents of undergraduate students and planning, implementing and assessing events, the coordinator will also assist in the development of creative content for all functional areas in the Department of Student Life: to include researching, writing, proofreading, and editing. This position will manage sponsorship and in-kind donation acquisition, cultivating relationships with local businesses and business districts. Events and communications-related programs for parents include Parents Weekend, which hosts nearly 10,000 participants and Dinner Dialogues, a year- round initiative.Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)
Bachelor's degree and 3 years experience related to the development and dissemination of informational material. This position has been designated as essential personnel during inclement / hazardous weather and other emergencies. In addition, this position requires a variable work schedule.Preferred Qualifications Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills. Must be able to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences, including parents, faculty, staff, students, university administration and donors. Must be extremely detail-oriented. Must be able to effectively manage multiple projects at one time in a fast-paced environment. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Demonstrated desktop publishing skills using Adobe InDesign and Photoshop. Must maintain awareness of current trends relating to the needs of parents/families of undergraduate students. Must be a self-starter who can work independently and as part of a team. Customer service focused. Excellent problem-solving skills. The ability to maintain a positive attitude in challenging situations. Ability to think strategically.
