Duties: The Coordinator, New Media Communications is the primary producer of content for the University of Pennsylvania's main social media channels and, working with the Senior Manager of New Media Communications, plays a leading role in coordinating University-wide efforts on social media. The Coordinator will maintain consistent publication of news and related content to University social media channels with a specific focus on emerging visual channels.

Qualifications: Essential Qualifications:
-Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
-Three to five years of experience in a content-producing role in a news media, social media, public relations or communications organization.
-Two years of full-time professional social media experience developing and producing (writing, shooting, recording, filming) content on social media platforms.
-A broad understanding and experience in a wide range of social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google Plus, Pinterest, YouTube and Snapchat.
-Strong writing and verbal skills. Ability to convey institutional 'voice.'
-Strong reporting skills, including experience at accurately 'live tweeting' events.
-Portfolio of social photography and videography, demonstrating the ability to shoot, select, edit and post quickly to social media channels.
-Must show initiative and sound news judgment.
-Experience in tactfully responding to public comments and queries on social media channels
-Ability to work under tight deadlines.
-Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively and with creative teams.
-Highly developed time management and multi-tasking skills.
-Ability to handle and keep confidential highly sensitive information.
-Ability to work with a diverse group of people and to accept direction from supervisors.
-Ability to originate story ideas and carry them out.


Preferred Qualifications:
Candidates also should be able to demonstrate:
-Understanding of how Web strategy, particularly social media, can improve communications efforts
-Understanding of expiration-based platforms, such as Snapchat, Instagram Stories, Facebook Stories
-Basic graphic design skills in using Photoshop or similar software
-Good trouble-shooting capability
-Good organization skills, including the ability to prioritize and set standards.
-Experience in higher education or other non-profit environments
-Experience working with social media management systems, such as Hootsuite, Sprout Social, etc.
