General Summary: The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Project Director for the Upward Bound program. The Project Director's primary responsibility of this position is to lead the development, implementation, administration, and activities of a U.S. Department of Education funded Upward Bound pre-collegiate preparatory program (the "program") designed to generate the skills and motivation necessary for success in education beyond high school among a diverse group of young people from low-income and/or first-generation backgrounds with demonstrated academic need. This is a five (5) year grant. The project director will provide activities and services to improve high school retention and graduation rates, and promote college degree attainment. Pending funding.

Job Duties & Responsibilities: The Project Director for the Upward Bound program will:
- Direct and approve annual budget expenditures.
- Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate staff.
- Coordinate orientation/training for staff.
- Liaison to UNG, schools, community.
- Lead the development and implementation of Upward Bound Program
- Conduct informational presentations to student, parents, and community members
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Must have demonstrated skills with educational technology and sensitivity to needs of disadvantaged students
- Demonstrated ability to communicate with people from diverse backgrounds
- Knowledge of college access issues for marginalized students
- Ability to develop, manage, and monitor databases and tracking systems
- Ability to coordinate project assessment and evaluation
- Excellent communications, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Strong public relations, presentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to serve as the primary liaison with the Independent evaluator
- Ability to comply with the U.S. Department of Education regulations and guidelines
- Ability to provide Principal Investigator with regular updates and ensures they are informed of program challenges, and progress
- Willingness to work flexible/extended hours including nights and weekends.
Certifications/Licenses & Minimum Requirements:
- Master's degree in education, counseling, administration, or related field
- Minimum three years supervisory experience. Minimum three years supervisory experience in an educational setting preferred
- Minimum of 5 years advising/counseling first generation/low-income students
- Experience with federal regulations and grant implementation
- Experience with federal/similar reports
- Familiarity with TRIO programs and unique needs of TRIO students
- Background similar to target population preferred
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred
- Preference for candidates who have held a prior position within a university/college EOP, TRiO Program or other student support service program
