Campus Operations Business Officer

The Campus Operations Business Officer reports directly to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Campus Operations. Given the close interaction with the Finance Department, the position also indirectly reports to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Finance/Controller.
This position is primarily responsible for managing and operating the Campus Operations Business Office and providing the financial management and oversight for Campus Operations including budget management. Included in these duties are the supervision of the Accounting Technician, and the Work Order System Administrator. The Business Officer also has responsibility for utilizing the work order system data to help increase departmental efficiencies, and for report writing and data analysis using TMA software.
The Business Officer will act as the primary liaison between Campus Operations and Finance and will have primary responsibility for the timely processing of capital transactions and accurate management of financial records for all capital projects through Banner in accordance with Office of State Budget Management, State Property Office, and UNCA policies and procedures. The position will work closely with the Finance Office to resolve any issues concerning payments for capital expenditures.
The position will also track projects and provide various capital project financial reports to the AVC Finance / Controller's Office and Project Managers as requested. The Business Officer will assist the AVC Finance/Controller's Office with year-end recording and reconciliation of capital projects, existing fixed assets inventory, and oversee the central stores inventory for the annual audit.The preferred qualifications for this position are:
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a closely related field,
- Three to five years accounting experience in a project management or construction type environment,
- Three to five years of Banner experience,
- Highly developed organizational and spreadsheet skills. Three to five years' experience with the operation and management of a Construction management system.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
