The Assistant Director, Annual Fund represents the Fuqua alumni audience in a university-wide annual fund centralized communication plan, coordinates and implements fundraising solicitations, and manages data and reports that support efforts to increase annual unrestricted financial support for the Fuqua School of Business through its $4.3M annual fund. The Assistant Director reports to the Director, Communications and Donor Relations and collaborates with the Development and Alumni Relations department and other Fuqua and Duke University departments on overall strategy, initiatives and events.

Job Duties

• Serve as the primary point of contact to the Duke Annual Fund staff who work on the Centralized Communication Plan (CCP), supporting projects, creating content and messaging, providing data, and coordinating with Fuqua staff as necessary to support Fuqua's participation in a centralized print and electronic communication program for all of Duke's annual funds.
• Coordinate with Fuqua's communications and marketing staff to create and execute print and electronic solicitations. Work with outside vendors to manage production and fulfillment as necessary.
• Partner with the Associate Director, Advancement Services to create mailing lists and manage data for solicitations.
• Coordinate Fuqua's participation in the university-wide donor rating process for annual fund support.
• Coordinate special initiatives around Annual Fund fundraising, including targeted challenges, mini-campaigns, giving days, and similar projects.
• Support the Duke student fundraising calling program ("Phonathon") by managing data, creating scripts and supporting information, educating student callers on the specifics of Fuqua solicitation messaging, collecting feedback, and ensuring appropriate follow up from Phonathon calls.
• Provide support for gift logistics, including recurring giving; reviewing and rectifying credit card or check failures; supporting efforts for donors to apply for corporate matching; and answering donors' questions about their giving history as needed.
• Manage Fuqua's calendar and fiscal year-end Annual Fund outreach efforts, developing tracking tools, making outreach assignments, monitoring and communicating progress, and reporting on outcomes.
• Provide support for Development & Alumni Relations events and programs as needed. Qualifications • Bachelor's degree required.
• An understanding of institutional fundraising and experience in development, alumni relations, or higher education preferred.
• Three to five years' successful project management experience, including meeting numerous deadlines and objectives and managing multiple concurrent projects with limited resources.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Access, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint,) and willingness and ability to master a proprietary SAP database tool.
• Refined written and oral communication and customer service skills.
• Exceptional ability to think strategically and analytically.
• Detail orientation, flexibility, and ability to work independently and in a fast-paced, results-oriented team environment.
