The Office of Sponsored Programs is recruiting for a Grants and Contracts Assistant position that is responsible for creating new awards, projects and budgets and for updating existing data. The creation and maintenance of Awards in Oracle is essential for the successful completion of research grants and contracts. The accuracy of the data and the timeliness of entry are critical to the process. Due to the sheer volume of awards, a combination of speed and accuracy are required to keep the data current and the awards available for use.
OSP is responsible for all University research grants & contracts. An integral part of this operation involves the creation and maintenance of awards, projects and budgets within Oracle. This data is important for a department's successful operation of its research projects, the University's accounting and auditing functions and the generation of financial & statistical reports.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Data entry skills
Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing
files and records, designing forms, and other office
procedures and terminology
Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense
Ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).
Ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules (e.g., patterns of numbers, letters, words, pictures, mathematical operations).
Ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted.
