Job Description

The Estimator/Project Manager directs assigned resources to provide and manage bids to public and private clients. This is a two part position, estimating and project management. The successful candidtate first bids the job and then he manages the job. Our bidding focus is on site development and underground utilities projects that rbage from $2 to $20 million in size. Typical estimates of cost projections for means and methods are for demolition, earthwork, excavation, sanitary and storm sewers and other underground utilities, curbs, sidewalks, paving and landscaping. Once a project is awarded the position becomes a Project Management Position. The Estimator/Project Manager manages the Project. The Project Manager now directs assigned men, equipment, materials and subcontractors toward the timely attainment of estimated objects and specifications. As the project progresses he defines potential change orders. He estimates these change orders. Once approved he implements the change order. As part of the management process, the Estimator/Project Manager negotiates prices, writes purchase orders, oversees submittals, keeps records and logs as necessary. Schedules deliveries of structures and materials. Arranges for men and equipment with the General Field Superintendent. He serves as a focal point of communication and provides coordination between the Customer/Architect/Engineer and the Company. The Estimator/Project Manager is ultimately responsible for the profitable completion of the Project he estimated and managed.

REQUIREMENTS 7+ years of construction estimating and management experience in heavy highway and site development. Must have knowledge of demolition, earthwork, excavation, underground utilities in both public and private construction sectors. Applicant must be willing to work in a dynamic office environment that will require management and/or collaboration on multiple projects simultaneously. Candidate will be expected to maintain Pro-active cummunication with contract owners, vendors, subcontractors and field personnel. A working knowledge of HCSS Heavy Bid and Pay Dirt is a PLUS. Proficiency in MS Word and Excel is required. A Qualified Applicant musy have the ability to manage a project from proposal to completion while maintaining schedules and budgets.
