Degree and Area of Specialization:

Bachelors degree in accounting or related field preferred



Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

Minimum of 2 years professional experience preferred. Experience in working with complex automated systems and processes.



Position Summary:

This is a highly responsible professional accounting position requiring knowledge and application accounting theories and principals. This position involves a broad variety of complex financial activities including: monitoring and coordination of expenditure, reconciling fund balances, reconciling account balances, recommending actions on various accounting questions, and serve as business operation resource person for UHS and University policy development, interpretation and implementation. The accountant will work under general supervision of UHS Budget and Finance Team Manager.

Knowledge & Skills:
1.Comprehensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Demonstrated ability to apply GAAP standards in a business setting. Knowledge and application of cost accounting practices/principals.
2.Proficiency in Excel and ability to create complex spreadsheets and reports. Ability to interpret and analyze financial data.
3.Demonstrated skills in oral and written communication and working in a team environment.
4.Demonstrated ability to learn new systems.
5. Ability to work independently, prioritize work duties, demonstrate effective time management skills to meet UHS and university requirements and deadlines.
