The Chemistry Department at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Instructional Lab Supervisor I to join our team. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:* Supervising and maintaining the physical facilities and instrumentation in the freshman undergraduate laboratories and to conduct/maintain inventory control of the chemicals used in these laboratories.* Serve as staff supervisor primarily to graduate student freshman preppers.* Provide instructional training use of laboratory equipment for graduate student teaching assistants assigned to the freshman laboratories CHEM 1430, 1435, and 1440.* Oversee Saturday instructional labs and preppers,* Prepping of instructional laboratories as needed by department,* Assisting with chemical demonstrations as needed in the freshman laboratoriesThe University of North Texas System is firmly committed to equal opportunity and does not permit - and takes actions to prevent - discrimination, harassment (including sexual violence), and retaliation on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, family status, genetic information, citizenship or veteran status in its application and admission processes, educational programs and activities, facilities, and employment practices. The successful candidate will possess a Master's Degree in related field and two years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience. The following knowledge, skills, and abilities are required: * Working knowledge of equipment and instrumentation appropriate to the nature of the lab and/or the discipline and of supplies including operation, set-up, storage, and maintenance. * Working knowledge of instructional applications related to the laboratory and/or the discipline. * Physical abilities and skills to readily assemble and operate equipment and instrumentation. * Knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions applicable to the lab, particularly in the sciences or engineering. * Ability to make effective presentations of experiments or software, and provide instruction in laboratory techniques, use of equipment, use of software, procedures, and safety rules. * Ability to supervise work performed by others.
