Northeastern University seeks a Senior Technology Writer with expertise writing for a lay audience about technology trends. This person plays an essential role in Northeastern University's Marketing Department content marketing approach aimed at engaging key audiences. At the heart of this effort is the launch of a new digital platform serving as a hub for big-idea thinking on what work is, and what it could be.

The Senior Technology Writer will be responsible for covering the technology “beat” for this platform. This person brings substantive experience writing about technology trends and how those trends are impacting the world. S/he helps set the standard for the highest quality writing—reporting, content development, style, and execution—and conceptual thinking for editorial material and a full array of multimedia and social channels. S/he has a proven ability to:

  • Conceptualize and pitch stories aligned with strategic objectives while maintaining sound editorial standards

  • Customize content across multiple channels and for targeted audiences

  • Write with a confident, accessible, and engaging voice and tone

    S/he must be able to work both independently and collaboratively with a variety of colleagues in the Marketing and Communications departments, including editors, designers, developers, multimedia producers, and project managers.

    The position requires strategic thinking, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work in a deadline-oriented, fast-paced environment. The ability to be flexible and receptive to editorial input is a must.

    The Senior Technology Writer brings to the position a minimum of seven years related experience in journalism, marketing, public relations, or publishing, and has a track record for producing high-level, high-quality writing in a deadline-oriented, fast-paced environment.

    Excellent copyediting and proofreading skills a must.

    This position requires a Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, engineering, computer science, or related field.
