The University of Connecticut is seeking applications and nominations for the position of Assistant Director of Marketing. This individual will assist in planning and implementing strategies to maximize marketing/promotional efforts in order to build attendance and generate ticket sales for UConn Athletic events. Responsibilities include: oversees day-to-day marketing and game day marketing efforts for men's ice hockey and other selected sports, to include production of timelines and public address scripts, coordination of video board content, in-venue music, sponsorship activation activities, and time-out promotions with band, cheerleaders and dance team; assists in planning cost-effective marketing strategies and promotional campaigns designed to engage various stakeholder groups and audiences; develops and/or contributes to preparation of marketing plans for selected sports; designs, produces and schedules sales and promotional collateral specific to target audience segments; works closely with other departmental units, such as Video, Communications, Tickets and Operations, to effectively execute promotions and other game day activities; recruits, trains and supervises student workers as necessary to carry out promotional activities or other needs within the Marketing unit; assists with digital media marketing efforts including social media content creation and distribution; performs other duties as assigned by the Associate Athletic Director for Strategic Marketing and Fan Engagement.


Bachelor's degree in marketing or related field preferred, or Associates degree and two-to-four years' experience in marketing, or equivalent combination of education and experience; creative graphics and writing ability necessary to produce promotional materials; demonstrated knowledge of applicable NCAA regulations; outstanding organizational skills including ability to handle multiple projects; ability to work independently, think strategically and creatively with minimal supervision, adjust to changing circumstances, organize time efficiently and remain attentive to details; and willingness to work flexible and irregular hours.


Bachelor's degree in marketing or related field; Master's degree in sport management; minimum one-to-two years of marketing experience in an NCAA Division 1 collegiate athletic department; direct marketing oversight of multiple NCAA Division 1 sports including men's ice hockey; proficiency in the use of Adobe Creative Suite; and demonstrated experience in developing digital content for use both in-venue and on social media platforms.


Anticipated salary is low forties.
