The School of Engineering at the University of Connecticut seeks applications for the position of Senior Design Business Development Program Manager. Under the general direction of a designated administrator, the Program Manager provides business development and coordination of the UConn School of Engineering Senior Design program solicitations designed to support the School's undergraduate senior year project activities.

This successful candidate will be expected to implement strategies and secure funding for the Senior Design program, acting independently within the goals and objectives of the program and the guidelines established by the supervisor. The primary focus of this job is on recruitment for Senior Design projects. This position requires some travel within the State of Connecticut.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Plans activities in accordance with Senior Design program goals and objectives, and the day-to-day delivery of program business development.
  2. Coordinates and monitors the day-to-day administration of Senior Design business development and prepares necessary reports for supervisor.
  3. Responsible for thorough knowledge of the program and department goals.
  4. Responsible for securing and retention of funding for projects for School of Engineering Senior Design projects.
  5. Assists departments in maintaining 200+ prospective project partners.
  6. Assists School in maintaining $1M+ project program.
  7. Performs office administrative duties for the program; coordinates and monitors the processing of necessary paperwork and maintenance of records to support Senior Design program business development.
  8. Builds and maintains relationships with each School department, which includes Department Heads and designated Senior Design department leaders.
  9. Maintains and creates new relationships with external University contacts that are prospective Senior Design partners.
  10. Understanding of existing external University relationships, and recognition and exploration for appropriate engagement.
  11. Organizes and participates in teleconferences between external University partners and faculty to promote project scope opportunities.
  12. Creates and maintains a master document for Senior Design opportunities for each academic year.
  13. Cold calls potential new Senior Design partners to garner interest for collaboration.
  14. Attendance, when requested by individual Departments, at faculty and advisory board meetings.
  15. Serves as a resource to staff, faculty and external University partners on matters relating to Senior Design program partnership.
  16. Engages in promotional activities for the program; includes compiling annual Senior Design fact sheet.
  17. Participates in planning, development, design and evaluation of program activities.
  18. Provides current information for Senior Design website, collaborating with Dean's Office communications staff.
  19. Responsible for collecting partner testimonials for the Senior Design website.
  20. Actively engages attendees for Senior Design Demonstration Day to promote retention of partnerships and promote future collaborative opportunity.
  21. Performs related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Master's degree in discipline appropriate to the program to be served and at least 1 to 2 years relevant experience; or Bachelor's degree and at least 3 to 5 years relevant experience.
  2. Demonstrated ability to independently promote the Senior Design program.
  3. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with several departments that have joint and individual programmatic needs.
  4. Ability to travel to locations throughout the state.
  5. Good organizational skills.
  6. Good interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, students, administrators as well as external University partners.
