The University of North Texas at Dallas (UNT Dallas) is the only regionally accredited, public university in the City of Dallas. UNT-Dallas is rapidly becoming a university of first choice as a result of the personal involvement of faculty, student support resources, affordability, location, and the relevancy of programs and degrees to career offerings in the region. UNT Dallas is currently seeking a Residence Life Coordinator to create and maintain a positive residential environment for residents through working with staff, resident assistants, and other student leaders to build community through strategic programming initiatives.

Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
  • Responsible for supervising work performed by residence life student staff.
  • Responsible for ongoing training of student staff in related residence hall duties.
  • Foster staff unity and teamwork through trainings, meetings, and staff events. Motivate student staff and empower them to promote student growth and development.
  • Maintain a positive presence within the community by being visible and accessible to residents, role modeling responsible behavior, personal integrity, and commitment to the mission and vision of the university.
  • Serve as an advisor and resource for individual residents through personal consultation and conflict resolution.
  • Advise resident student leaders in Community Council.
  • Educate residents about University emergency protocol and procedures.
  • Oversee safety and duty procedures for Residence Hall and promote and enforce policies that protect and ensure the general welfare of students.
  • Communicate, uphold, administer, and evaluate policies related to student life within the University and the Residence Hall.
  • Exercise good judgment, ethical decision making, and responsible citizenship both on and off campus.
  • Effectively respond to and manage emergency and/or crisis situations via participation as the second-level responder in campus-wide duty coverage, which requires evening and weekend availability.
  • Serve as a responsible employee for allegations regulated under Title IX.
  • Communicate, support and implement the philosophy and mission of the University and the Office of Residence Life.
  • Lead and coordinate, the various Residence Life processes and committees including, but not limited to, student staff recruitment, selection and training.
  • Assist with coordination of all aspects of facilities management and assignment procedures within the Residence Hall.
  • Serve on University committees as assigned.
  • Coordinate residence halls tours sponsored by Undergraduate Admissions as assigned.
  • Participate in a 24-hour/7 days on duty rotation with the ability to quickly respond to and handle emergency and non-emergency situations for campus.
  • Considerable time is spent at a desk using a computer
  • May be required to travel to other buildings on the campus.
  • May be required to attend conference and training sessions within the DFW area or out-of-state locations.
  • Mostly indoor office environment with windows.
  • Offices with frequent interruptions.
  • May be required to work nights 11pm-7am

Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited University required. with One year of experience working on a college campus.
  • Conflict resolution, crisis management, and people management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:
  • Residence Life experience is strongly preferred.
  • Master's degree in Student Personnel, Student Development or Counseling, Educational Administration, or related field is strongly preferred

Physical requirements necessary to perform essential job functions
Work is primarily sedentary. Sits comfortably to do the work; however, there may be some walking, standing, bending, or lifting items weighing up to 15 pounds.
