JOB SUMMARY: Work in conjunction with all areas of Information Technology Support Services in including multimedia support services, distance learning, PC support, networking and phone support to provide first-level problem tracking, identification, and support for end users via telephone, e-mail, web and in person.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The incumbent will:


  • Evaluate automated processing methods, systems, and develop documentation for deficiencies to ensure problems are routed to appropriate departments as necessary according  to established guidelines
  • Provide information and guidance to College employees on technology systems and techniques, applications, utilities, operation, and uses of computer hardware, software and peripheral equipment. Help users understand the steps required in using a particular piece of application software to perform a specific task.
  • Provide technical support to end users on computer hardware including desktop computers, printers, and scanners. Troubleshoot computer software, hardware, and network problems and determining the appropriate means for rectifying the situation. Troubleshoot multimedia equipment for classroom instruction. Gather information regarding the existence and availability of equipment or information necessary to resolve issues.
  • Research hardware / software solutions available to utilize in solving existing problems. Provide assistance for operating systems, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, desktop publishing, graphics packages, etc.
  • Work with faculty, staff and other College departments to in an effort to improve end-user satisfaction.
  • This position may perform other duties commensurate with the functions and level of the position to include participating in committee assignments and the recruitment and retention of students


EDUCATION: Completion of Associates level certification –or- two (2) years of college –or-demonstrated knowledge skills and abilities in specialized IT area.

EXPERIENCE:  Three (3) years related experience

SPECIAL POSITIONS CONDITIONS: Will travel throughout the district using own transportation.

Licenses and Certificates: This position may require appropriate licenses or certifications at time of appointment or within a specified timeframe (e.g., ITIL). This position may require a valid Arizona Class D driver license at the time of application or prior to completion of a probationary period.  Failure to obtain/maintain required certifications or licensure may be grounds for dismissal.
Special Notice Items: This position may be required to work rotating shifts that includes days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. This position may be require to successfully complete an additional personal background verification, polygraph examination, and/or pre/post appointment drug-testing by law enforcement agencies, due to need for this position to access law enforcement, corrections, or court facilities, property, and associated confidential and sensitive information, documents, communications, and data base systems.  This position may require occasionally inmate contact. 

The knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform this job include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Knowledge of using personal computer and a variety of equipment associated with a general office environment.
  • Knowledge of methods and techniques of learning and/or teaching students and staff.
  • Knowledge of student information systems/databases such as Banner and Blackboard.
  • Skill in maintaining web-based information systems such as Other, WebQA and Ingeniux
  • Ability to process and analyze information accurately; detail oriented; and strong creative ability.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance and oversight.
  • Ability to learn with rapid proficiency on all current proprietary software.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff and the general public.
  • Ability to quickly learn and employ various items of proprietary software.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff and the general public.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel and PowerPoint.

SALARY:                               Entry salary is $36,558.00

Copies of transcripts should reflect completed course work and conferred degrees. All academic course work and degrees must be from a regionally accredited college or university or be certified by an acceptable agency that the institution is recognized by the appropriate governmental agency in its home country (this is generally stated in the degree evaluation).

Transcripts issued in a language other than English must be accompanied by a full translation (word for word) by an acceptable translator. Additionally, each foreign transcript must be evaluated for equivalency to United States accredited course work by an acceptable agency such as those agencies certified by the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES).

Background Verification:  As a condition of employment, all candidates accepting an offer of employment for a full-time, part- time, temporary, student worker, or volunteer position, will be required to undergo a Background Verification.  The check will be conducted by third party agent, General Information Services (GIS) Inc.  Employment with Central Arizona College is contingent upon the successful completion of the background verification.  The college does not accept responsibility for information errors reported by GIS during the background process.   The level the background verification for this position is: Basic level.

The Human Resources Department is located in main administration building, H Building, Suite 131 on the Signal Peak Campus at 8470 North Overfield Road, Coolidge, Arizona 85128.  Office hours are Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
