Columbus State University has an opening for a Military Service Representative located in Enrollment Management at Columbus State University. This position will report directly to the Director of Military Enrollment and will support the continued development and expansion of CSU’s enrollment of active duty service members, reservists, members of the National Guard, and their family members. The selected candidate will work in cooperation with their peers to coordinate services for the military population which include coordinating office coverage and participation in military service related events.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: assisting service members and their dependents with all enrollment service functions such as admissions, orientation, registration, and financial assistance; assisting with certification of educational benefits for veterans and maintain educational enrollment information in the various branches of service portals for active duty military; using course planners and degree evaluation tools to evaluate student’s academic progress toward degree completion in accordance with federal regulations; adhering to state and federal regulations and guidelines to ensure compliance; and all other related duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; two to three years in a customer service related position in a higher education enrollment setting; and/or any equivalent combination of education and experience. The successful candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel is required, PowerPoint is preferred) and possess excellent computer keying skills; and possess the ability to effectively handle a varied constituency including but not limited to military personnel, dependents, university staff, representatives of service providers (i.e. GoArmyEd), faculty members, university administrators, and co-workers. The selected candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills; possess the ability to change tasks quickly and effectively during periods of high volume activity; strong attention to detail; possess the ability to work with minimal supervision while participating in office operations as part of an effective team; possess a strong commitment to on-going customer service improvement; and a proven ability to understand and implement complex policies and procedures. The successful candidate must also possess a working knowledge of military enrollment services provided for veterans and their dependents which facilitates connecting students with subject matter experts in veteran educational benefits, admissions, financial aid, registration, student records, career services, and/or academic advising.

Working knowledge of the Banner Student Information System, previous military experience, and direct experience as a military enrollment representative or VA Certifying Official is preferred.
