The Department of Politics at The University of the South seeks applications for a tenure-track position in political theory to begin August 2018. Advanced scholars are encouraged to apply with some consideration given to faculty who are tenured or on the tenure track. The Department is also hiring for a tenure-track position in American political behavior, so academic couples are welcome to apply.

The teaching load for this position is five courses per year. The successful candidate will teach Introduction to Political Theory and upper division courses. These courses may be open with regard to the candidate's area of interest, but candidates should be able to offer courses related to issues of diversity, identity, inclusion, justice, and citizenship. These courses should reflect the thematic, not chronological, approach to our theory curriculum, and we are especially interested in courses such as African-American Political Thought, Feminist Theory, and American Political Thought.

The successful candidate will show evidence of effective classroom teaching and a commitment to scholarly research and publication. A Ph.D. in political science is required. ABDs must possess the degree by the time of appointment.
