Job Description Summary:
Registered Nurse to work in a university student health center.

Specific Duties:

1. provide primary care for students (illness, injuries and/or other health concerns
2. triage patient’s medical needs/promote health maintenance and wellness through health screenings and counseling
3. assist our outsourced medical providers with various procedures
4. perform blood draws (venipuncture) and prepare specimens for outsourced laboratory pick up
5. perform EKG’s, breathing treatments, suture removal etc.
6. prescribe and dispense over-the-counter medications; administer TB testing, flu vaccines and/or other vaccines, including allergy injections
7. prescribe and administer Emergency Contraceptive Pills/perform testing/counseling for STD’s following medical protocol
8. schedule appointments and/or referrals
9. prepare pharmacy/laboratory billing for insurance reimbursement
10. assist students with insurance related issues
11. prepare and maintain confidential medical records
12. maintenance of Student Health Services medical record recommendations
13. assist with CAL OSHA oversight
14. prepare and file Confidential Morbidity Reports with Los Angeles Public Health Department



Minimum Qualifications:

1. AA Degree in Registered Nursing from an accredited institution
2. active licensure in accordance with the Calif. Board of Registered Nursing
3. CPR and First Aid certification-current

Preferred Qualifications:
1. a Bachelor’s degree in Registered Nursing (BSN)
2. IV Certification and/or recent experience
3. knowledge of: laboratory equipment, medical diagnostic tools, EKG machine, breathing machine, oxygen equipment, surgical instruments, computer, computer software/printer for laboratory entry/results, FAX machine/printer, typewriter, copy machine
