The CISD Training Generalist will enhance the competencies of individual employees by delivering and supporting training programs that will boost employee workplace performance in alliance with the University’s mission. This position is responsible for coordinating and delivering a comprehensive range of curriculum, learning materials, finance systems training, professional development, and continuous improvement for Finance & Administration and the Service Center of Excellence. Training responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: computer-based training, classroom training, 1:1 instruction, and written job-aids.

This position will also coordinate and schedule large-scale finance certification programs including events that allow Certified Public Accountants at UNC to earn continuing education credits and software-related trainings on programs such as Microsoft Excel. Duties include marketing available training offerings and assisting employees with the registration process.

The CISD Training Generalist will provide support to CISD Finance Training Manager and CISD Training Specialists. Responsibilities include reserving training rooms, setting up equipment for webinars, training registration, entering attendance records, requesting printed handouts, and other duties as needed. This position will serve as the primary customer support contact for the centralized email inbox and remedy tickets.

The CISD Training Generalist will also play a key role in helping to maintain quality and accurate training documentation. This will involve collaborating with training specialists, business owners, business analysts and subject matter experts to assist in developing and updating training materials, writing step-by-step instructions for campus users. Training materials include printed handouts for training classes, training manuals, quick reference cards, and computer based trainings.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:  Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:  

Experience in a training or teaching role including curriculum development, needs assessment, and session evaluation.

Strong customer service background. Ability to learn compliance related policies to advise staff regarding trainings required for their position is needed. Proficiency in Office (Word, Excel and Outlook). Ability to build and maintain strong positive working relationships with colleagues both internal and external is needed. Ability to work independently.

Attention to detail and organization is critical in this role. The ability to master new skills quickly and work independently is important to be successful in dealing with multiple and competing priorities, as well as an extremely diverse workload. Must complete all tasks and duties within prescribed deadlines, whether requested outside the office or self-imposed.

The employee must manage an extremely diverse workload, learn new skills quickly, have a pleasant demeanor when dealing with the public, and remain composed under pressure. It is necessary for the person in this position to be flexible and cope well with change and uncertainty.

Preferred Qualifications:  

Two (2) years of full time experience providing training on topics related to software systems and/or professional development.

Microsoft Excel skills at the intermediate level or beyond.
