Academic Program Director: Night, Online, Weekends (NOW)

The director is responsible for coordinating the overall operations of Night, Online and Weekend (NOW) Programs. This position will serve as a liaison to the administrative, academic and student support areas serving a diverse, urban student body.

This position will include Friday evenings, Saturdays and Sundays.


  • Develop, coordinate, and supervise NOW
  • Serve as primary liaison among students, faculty and college administrators for on-campus and off-site programs
  • Expand and enhance student and faculty support services for all weekend (which may include some off-site programs) in cooperation with academic and administrative departments and offices
  • Answer inquiries, provide information and resolve problems regarding programs, faculty and student issues, faculty support services, student support services, schedule changes, classroom changes and class cancellations
  • Working in collaboration with various businesses and government agencies to oversee and coordinate the implementation of credit programs for employees who wish to upgrade their skills or advance in their careers
  • Oversee program evaluation efforts and creates strategic plan to further develop program offerings
  • Manage annual budget; develop proposals and other initiatives for expanded program support
  • Cultivate and maintain strategic partnerships; serve as primary liaison to faculty and administrators to plan and execute programming activities
  • Manage professional and clerical staff
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 6 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired as necessary.
  • Ability to interact with students, faculty, and administrators in a diverse, urban higher education institution
  • Must be collaborative and a team player
  • Must be conversant with academic and student policies and possess a good knowledge of programs, services and facilities
  • Will maintain an evening/weekend work schedule when classes are in session
  • Demonstrated leadership for initiating projects and seeing them to conclusion
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills
  • Effective teamwork, interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills
  • Knowledge of academic structures and values

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree and three years' experience in higher education management highly preferred.
  • Applicants will have at least five years' experience in higher education management
  • Experience teaching online courses
  • Ability to work with instructors from a wide range of academic cultures and disciplines
  • Ability to teach in, and affiliate with, an academic department
  • Experience teaching at the university level
  • Experience building programs
  • Participation in national organizations focused on teaching, learning, and/or technology in higher education
