Assembly Controls Engineer
The Controls Engineer will provide support, leadership and direction to the Maintenance Technicians and perform controls function for the Assembly Maintenance Department. The Controls Engineer will support and carry out the assignments and responsibilities given them by the area Manager.
In general, ensure the achievement of OA targets for the Assembly Department. Additional tasks may include but will not be limited to:
•Follow and enforce all plant safety rules and policies
•Work with minimal supervision.
•Supports Manufacturing Engineering in the development of standards and specifications, including a complete purchase parts list related to controls systems.
•Plans and implements improvements within the Assembly Department related to the specific controls systems.
•Plan and Lead cross-functional project teams supporting activities related to controls issues.
•Provides technical support for controls systems during the introduction of new equipment. Supervises the assembly and installation as well as assemble and installs new equipment and is able to make modifications to existing equipment as requested.
•Ensures proper controls specific documentation delivery form the Original Equipment Manufacturer.
•Provides technical support to Assembly Department for resolving controls related issues.
•Responsible in the Assembly Maintenance Department for Technical Training of all Maintenance Employees and the development of programs by conducting training classes, providing technical documentation, etc. (Specific to but not exclusive to Allen Bradley, RS Logix, Device Net controls systems and safety systems)
•Ensure properly documented equipment breakdown/activity reports.
•Work with Assembly Maintenance Department Supervisor to prioritize task to be done during non production hours.
•Ensure scheduled maintenance task are completed and on time.
•Identify training needs for Maintenance Technicians. Provide requirements to the Assembly Manager and training department.
•Provide leadership and direction during equipment downtime situations. Make good judgment decisions on technical matters and interface effectively with production supervision.
•Ensures Root Cause of downtime is properly investigated and addressed.
•Being competent with computer office related software. (Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point, etc)
•Robotics troubleshooting on robots.
•Electrical circuit troubleshooting.
•Ensure new parts get ordered or returned unused part back to the correct stock location.
•Attend meetings on the Assembly Department's as needed.
•Practices good housekeeping on the shop floor.
•Deals with vendors both parts suppliers and equipment suppliers.
•Sets up preventative maintenance procedures on electrical equipment for the Assembly department as established by the manufacturer's specifications.
•Maintain maintenance Quality standards and preventative/ predictive maintenance program for the Assembly Department to insure compliance with TS16949 Requirements.
•Maintain safety standards of equipment in work area.
•Performs regular workplace inspections (5S).
•Perform other duties as required.
Knowledge and Education
Technical Associates Degree preferred or equivalent automated manufacturing experience required. Technical knowledge will be demonstrated through a technical assessment prior to hire, lateral move, or promotion.
Minimum 5 years of automated manufacturing technical experience required, experience working with Allen Bradley, RS Logix, and Device Net controls systems,
Intermediate = 1-3 years of experience / some training required. (Preferred)
Skills and Competencies
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
