Job Description

IT Technician and Web Specialist

Classification: Full-time

SUMMARY OF POSITION

The IT Technician/Web Specialist reports to the Director of IT and is responsible for managing the contents of web sites, working collaboratively with client service representatives from the management company to support the web portal.

The IT Technician/Web Specialist will also provide general daily hardware and software support for staff and users, along with assisting, under direction, the implementation of new technology services and business applications. Company's responsibilities for selection, implementation and support of new systems and communication tools is expected to grow significantly over the next two to three years.

Key Responsibilities

Web Support
  • Update pages and post contents on three web sites. Restructure and maintain as needed
  • Proactively investigate, test and implement new internet technologies as appropriate (e.g. Single sign on, social networking, email, video and web push applications)
  • Actively promote the use of the site, highlighting new features, encouraging expanded subscriber usage, and redesigning content for enhanced navigation,
  • Add new users and troubleshoot log on issues for web sites
  • Liaison with web developer (outside contractor)
    1. Coordinate the developer's work on the web site
    2. Seek developer's assistance and advice on changes, as necessary
  • Liaison with other business partners and service providers to integrate content and delivery options inclusive of audio and video conferencing
  • Other Responsibilities
  1. Monitor all domains for the web sites and email services
  2. Prepare site usage reports using WordPress and Google Analytics statistics as well as statistics prepared by other internet web sites (First Net, HSB)
  3. Maintain the company internet services and accounts including: YouTube, Vimeo and Drobox
  4. Set up IFTTT software so that emails received within company accounts trigger alerts to user preferred alternate email accounts.
  • IT Support

    Daily Helpdesk Support
    1. Provide daily user support for company's existing technology
    2. Troubleshoot hardware, software and network problems and inform other staff when issues cannot be immediately addressed
    3. Provide orientation to new users within comapny
    4. Install workstations, configure access for laptop computers, tablets and peripherals
    5. Set up, install and upgrade all standard business related applications
    6. Train staff in use of existing technology
    7. Update and maintain current and accurate inventory of hardware, software and licensed resources

      Assist Data Center and communication support
      1. Monitor and maintain the equipment in Data Center, as directed
      2. Maintain incident, and repair and maintenance log, inclusive of time necessary to complete tasks
      3. Maintain and regularly update technology inventory. Identify obsolete equipment for disposal/recycling. Wipe drives prior to disposal
      4. Assist in research related in new technologies and services
      5. Assist new users with network account and password support, as required
      6. Assist in review and update of cyber security policies and Procedures. Participate in testing
      7. Monitor and maintain server daily backup and SYS logs. Troubleshoot remote access issues.

Qualifications

The IT technician/Web Specialist must demonstrate the following skills:
  • Thorough knowledge of web content and structure management and support
  • Demonstrate experience with website development programs
  • General knowledge of commercial insurance business operations
  • Work history that includes employee and/or customer support
  • Technical knowledge of
    • WordPress
    • HTML
    • CSS
  • Thorough knowledge of MS Excel, Word, Email/Gmail and graphic applications
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills for support of desktop and laptop computers
  • Basic experience with network administration and/or network installation a plus
  • Strong communications skills
  • Proven ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Education and Training
  • Minimum BS in computer science or related major required
  • Evidence of completion of ongoing training, relevant to the listed job requirements
  • 5 - 7 years of experience: user computer hardware and Windows operating system
  • Basic certification or qualification in network administration is a plus
