General Statement of Job

To provide lab and/or technical classroom support services to faculty and staff.

Note: Some shifts at Riverside Campus possible, as needed Hours 40 hrs/week, as assigned Salary Technician 2/116 ($26,978.00 - $38,540.00) FLSA Status Non-Exempt Reports To Department Chair - Welding Technology Criminal Background Check Pre-employment criminal background checks are required for all Staff and Faculty positions. Pre-employment urinalyses drug screens are also required for all top candidates considered for positions in ACC's College Police department.

Description of Duties and Tasks

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Ensures safe laboratory conditions including safe and secure handling and storage of supplies and equipment. May recommend, implement, and maintain safety standards and departmental policies and procedures to comply with federal, state, and local hazardous materials, health and safety, hazardous waste regulations, and other applicable regulations.
  • Organizes, plans, and prioritizes laboratory activities for designated area.
  • May assist students in use of lab equipment and facilities.
  • Performs clerical duties including operating a computer, maintaining records and files, and compiling data and reports as required.
  • Maintains an inventory of supplies and materials.
  • Initiates purchase requisitions, controls expenditures, and prepares cost estimates for budget recommendation; submits justifications and requests for capital outlay items; may prepare specifications and analyze bids for purchases.
  • Operates, installs, maintains, and troubleshoots equipment; sets up, configures, and calibrates new equipment. Performs routine maintenance and repair.
  • Collects data, records, and other information, and submits reports as required.
  • May oversee or delegate related tasks to others as deemed appropriate by the supervisor.

  • Additional Job Specific Duties

    • 1. Trouble shoot electrical and mechanical systems.
      2. Create maintenance schedule for equipment. Service welding and metal working equipment on a regular maintenance schedule.
      3. Fabricate furniture and welding fixtures as needed.
      4. Create an internal inventory system for supplies and consumables.

    Technology Skills

    • Use a variety of spreadsheet, word processing, database, and presentation software.
    • Use related laboratory software applications.

    Required Work Experience

    • Two years related work experience.

    Preferred Work Experience

    • - Previous experience maintaining an inventory of supplies or consumables.
      - Previous experience trouble shooting and maintaining equipment
      - Previous experience working in a welding environment

    Required Education

    • High school diploma or educational equivalent.

    Physical Requirements

    • Work is performed in a variety of settings.
    • Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling, and at times subject to stooping, crawling, and climbing.
    • May need to lift heavy objects of up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
    • May be exposed to a variety of temperatures, noise, moving mechanical parts, or chemicals.
    • Specific vision abilities may include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to focus.


    • Work safely and follow safety rules. Report unsafe working conditions and behavior. Take reasonable and prudent actions to prevent others from engaging in unsafe practices.

    Full-time Faculty and Staffing Table employees who work in full-time and/or part-time positions at the College are eligible for ACC medical benefits effective the first of the month after their first 60 days of employment.
