Job description

Duties: This independent researcher position will work with a molecular genetics group on Alzheimer's disease and related neurodegenerative disorders. The position will actively participate and oversee research activities directed by the PI. He/she will design and perform advanced research in support of assigned projects, working independently within the scientific framework of the PI's main areas of research and will oversee and mentor other members of the lab. The position will utilize a variety of general molecular biology techniques including cell culture and RNA preparation. Additional duties will include RT-PCR methods, genomic analysis, genotyping, and sequence analysis. Position will be expected manage his/her own project, analyzing and interpreting data, and communicating results and progress to others members of the laboratory as well as collaborators. The applicant will present research results at institutional and national meetings, as well as assist in the writing of manuscripts.

Qualifications: PhD or equivalent degree in a science discipline and 5 years to 7 years of experience required. Ability to work in a lab setting. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
