Posting Summary:
The Department of Public Health Sciences at the University of Virginia is currently seeking a Grants and Contracts Specialist. This position processes pre-award and post-award grant transactions which includes submissions to the National Institutes of Health, Foundations, and Industry sponsors. In addition, the incumbent serves as liaison to sponsoring agencies and university personnel on all questions regarding the accounting aspects of proposals and awarded grants.

An Associate's degree and two years of experience with grant applications and submissions are required. Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree. Candidate must have knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).

Candidate must also have the ability to interact effectively with colleagues within and outside of the Department; the ability to work with a high degree of independence and self-motivation; proven ability to manage grants; the ability to solve moderately complex accounting and reconciliation issues; the ability to oversee grant proposals and financial transactions; the ability to provide training in financial and grant management; and have knowledge of financial best practices.

Experience in higher education research administration is preferred, as is Knowledge of University Sponsored Programs policies and procedures. Experience with Discoverer, UBI, Oracle labor scheduling, Adobe, FastLane, grants.gov, and/or NIH Assist are also preferable.
