Position Summary


At Stony Brook Medicine, a Nurse Anesthetist is a valuable member of our team, who provides clinical services to our patient population. Responsibilities include pre and post-operative patient assessment, development of an anesthetic plan and the administration of anesthetics.

CRNA’s needed for a large tertiary care level one trauma center on eastern Long Island. Stony Brook University Hospital CRNAs receive unprecedented experience including but not limited to EP, Ortho, Neuro, Spine, Bariatric, OB, GYN, Robotics, GI, Hearts (Rare), and much more. Duties of a Nurse Anesthetist may include the following but are not limited to:

  • Pre-Operative Patient Evaluation: Assessment of medical and surgical history, current health status and development of the anesthetic plan.
  • Intra-Operative Care: Administration of general anesthesia, regional anesthesia and sedation. Provide airway management and appropriate monitoring.
  • Post-Operative Patient Evaluation: Evaluation to the patient following the administration of anesthesia.

Qualifications

Required: Graduate of a program in Anesthesia accredited by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists. Must have successfully completed, or be eligible to sit for the certification examination in Anesthesia.

Special Notes: Stony Brook Medicine is a smoke free environment. Smoking is strictly prohibited anywhere on campus, including parking lots and outdoor areas on the premises.
