Degree and Area of Specialization:
A bachelors or associates degree in any field, science or engineering is preferred.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
At least one year of administrative experience. Demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills are necessary. Excellent organizational and task management skills and the ability to adapt to changing deadlines.
Thie ideal candidate will have:
- Experience with pre- and post- award administration.
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated proficiently with software and web-based programs including Microsoft Office and Google applications with the ability and willingness to learn other platforms as needed
- Experience updating and maintaining websites using software such as WordPress and social media accounts
- Demonstrated initiative, problem solving skills, and ability to work independently
- Ability to work effectively with faculty, staff and students from a variety of backgrounds
- Ability to produce quality work of considerable complexity in a timely and efficient manner -
- The ability to understand, interpret and comply with FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act)
The Wisconsin Materials Research Science and Engineering Center (MRSEC, www.mrsec.wisc.edu), funded by the National Science Foundation, supports a wide range of materials-related research and educational activities with impacts in fields ranging from advanced electronics to biology. The center is a multidisciplinary research center with over 50 faculty members, graduate students, postdoctoral associates, and staff from several departments across the UW campus.
The MRSEC Assistant Administrator will provide support to the MRSEC Director and the broad membership of the Center to advance the research and education goals of the Center. The position will require establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with diverse individuals and groups at all levels of the organization to advance the mission of the center. The incumbent will coordinate the development and submission of grant related reports, maintain databased of center accomplishments including publications, awards, and graduate placements, plan and coordinate programs and events necessary for the advancement of the center mission, and provide general administrative support for the operations of the Center as needed. The incumbent will be expected to develop and maintain training and activities and procedures to meet the demands of the position. The incumbent will be expected to work independently using their initiative, creativity and judgment to manage projects and solve problems.
