Degree and Area of Specialization:
Ph.D in Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biology, Genetics, Molecular Biology or related field is required.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
At least 10 years of relevant research experience in Caenorhabditis elegans is required.
The person hired must have an outstanding track record of research discoveries and research publications, outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, a talent for collaborative research, strong management skills, an ability to work independently and train others. Expertise in both wide-field and confocal microscopy is required. Expertise in computational analysis of imaging data is also required. The successful candidate will have sufficient knowledge of microscopy to troubleshoot and fix minor problems and to efficiently coordinate maintenance and repair with service personnel.
The Kimble and Wickens laboratories are in need of a Senior Scientist with deep knowledge of and extensive experience with the imaging and genetic manipulation of the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans. The Scientist will work closely with lab members on projects exploring molecular regulation of stem cells and post-transcriptional regulatory networks. The Scientist will be responsible for upkeep of multiple types of microscopes in the lab, training and supervision of multiple staff members and oversight of various laboratory responsibilities (e.g. biosafety).
Appointment FTE is anticipated to begin at approximately one-third time and may increase after 3/1/2018, pending funding, laboratory needs, and satisfactory performance.
