About the College/Department

University Housing is a department within the Division of Student Affairs that provides on campus living to over 5,500 students. Our mission is to provide a safe, comfortable, convenient, and reasonably priced living and learning environment that promotes student success.

For this position, University Housing offers $1,000 of professional development funding, a furnished apartment with cable, laundry, land line telephone service, departmental smartphone, internet, and meal plan when dining services are in operation, pet policy to include a dog or cat.

Summary of Job Duties

The function of the Greek House Director is to work collaboratively with chapter presidents, residents, the Assistant Director for Greek Housing, and the Office of Greek Life to oversee the quality of living in the university managed Greek houses. The house director's duties will include assist with the functions of university facility staff, support student learning and development, residential program development and implementation, administration and facility management, crisis management and student counseling. The Greek House Director represents the philosophy and policies of University Housing, Office of Greek Life, the Division of Student Affairs, and the University of Arkansas, and in turn, presents the needs of the managed facilities to the administration. In addition, the House Director works with the chapter and the Greek community to maintain an environment that is conducive to the overall development of students and is supportive of the academic mission of the University. The House Director is required to live in the assigned facility.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

  • The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree with a major in sociology, public administration, or related field
  • At least two years of experience in program administration or related area

To foster the safety and security of residents of University housing, authorization for any adult to reside in an on-campus apartment with the successful candidate for this position is contingent on that adult's satisfactory completion of the same background check requirements prior to move-in: criminal background and sex offender registry checks and substance abuse screening. Any adverse findings will be used solely for the purpose of determining whether the accompanying adult shall be permitted to reside in University Housing. Background check information will be used in a confidential, non-discriminatory manner consistent with state and federal law.
