Associate Director, Community Standards

Department Summary:
The Office of Community Standards supports the development and maintenance of a thriving learning environment by helping students learn the value of their rights and to realize the importance of their responsibility as members of the campus community, and in all communities of which they are a part. The Office of Community Standards accomplishes this by responding to reports of violations of the Bridgewater State University Student Code of Conduct through the Community Standards process.

Position Summary:
The Associate Director will assist the Director in the management of the day-to-day functions of the Office of Community Standards. The Associate Director will collaborate with offices throughout the University in the support of the Office's mission of creating a safe and respectful campus community through caring for students, treating students equally, making ethical decisions and educating the campus at large about student rights and responsibilities to our community.

Essential Duties:
1. Supports the Director in various areas of the administration of the University’s conduct system
2. Serve as conduct officer and/or investigator for cases that may result in removal from campus residence and/or University Suspension or Expulsion, including conducting administrative conferences, serving as member of administrative review committee, and tracking and following up with sanctioned students.
3. Review investigation reports submitted to the Office of Community Standards.
4. Work with stakeholders in the coordination of Clery Act data obligations and assist with Clery trainings for the division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management others as needed.
5. Assist Director in policy reviews and changes to The Code of Conduct, and other related department policies, processes and procedures.
6. Manage the office website and on-line presence and serve as department contact for IT related projects and coordination with Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management Technology Coordinator.
7. Assists in the functional supervision of staff involved in carrying out the Office of Community Standard responsibilities, including graduate assistant(s), facilitators for the BASICS alcohol education program and the Alternative Dispute Resolution process.
8. Collaborate with the Office of Equal Opportunity/Title IX to co-investigate cases involving alleged violations of The Student Code of Conduct and the Equal Opportunity, Diversity and Affirmative Action Plan.
9. Work collaboratively with various departments and constituency groups including but not limited to Equal Opportunity/Title IX, Campus Police, General Counsel, Counseling Center, International Student Services, Student Involvement and Leadership/fraternity and sorority life and the Behavioral Intervention Team.
10. Provide ongoing support and guidance to Residence Life and Housing staff members in reviewing cases and investigation reports, providing feedback, and addressing questions/concerns.
11. Develop and facilitate student conduct training for campus constituent groups including but not limited to: Residence Life and Housing staff, Orientation Leaders, Fraternity and Sorority Life groups.
12. Serve as a liaison to the Office of Outreach Education to ensure collaboration between the two offices regarding shared initiatives.
13. Plan and implement assessment efforts that inform data driven decision making for the programs, services and activities within your core duties.
14. Develop and implement intentional programs, services and activities within your core duties that will meet the unique needs of all student populations.
15. Utilize diversity and social justice practices to promote student success as it relates to core duties
16. In the absence of the Director, serve as a member of the CARE team and communicate with Student Affairs, Campus Police, and other related departments regarding conduct cases.
17. Serve on various University and division committees as assigned.
18. Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
1. Master’s degree in higher education/student affairs, Juris doctor, or equivalent is required.
2. Minimum of 5 years professional experience in student affairs, including 2 or more years of full-time professional experience in student conduct within a residential college/university is required.
3. Working knowledge of compliance and legal issues as they pertain to student conduct (ex. Title IX, Clery Act, FERPA, VAWA).
4. Experience using an electronic conduct database, and proficiency with standard computer software such as Microsoft Office is required.
5. Excellent oral and written communication skills .
6. Proven ability to address the needs of students and staff and promote a positive student culture.
7. Proven ability to work closely with faculty, staff, students, parents, and other campus constituents.
8. The ability to work evenings and/or weekends on an occasional basis is required.
9. Experience facilitating educational workshops for students and staff is required.

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Experience with Maxient database management system.
2. Experience with Alternative Dispute Resolution, BASICS and the Bringing in the Bystander sexual violence prevention program.

Salary Range: $60,000 - $65,000
