LECTURER/SR LECTURERJob Description:
The Department of Applied Physiology and Kinesiology (APK) at the University of Florida (UF) is seeking applications for a full-time lecturer/senior lecturer faculty position. The Department of APK (http://apk.hhp.ufl.edu/) currently enrolls approximately 1000 students (900 undergraduate, 100 graduate) with 18 full-time faculty members. APK students are highly motivated and engaged learners. The primary responsibilities of this faculty position may include, but are not limited to, teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in the areas of biomechanics, motor control, and/or motor neuroscience. The biomechanics and motor control / motor neuroscience community at UF is exceptional and collaborative. Faculty research and instructional areas of interest span orthopedic, neurologic, neuromechanics, aging, and cognitive-motor interactions. Instructional excellence is supported by university, college, and departmental mechanisms, such as the Office of Faculty Development and Teaching Excellence, in-house course design consultants, lecturer promotion and merit pay plans, conference travel, summer teaching opportunities, and instructional grant opportunities. This is a 9-month, non-tenure track faculty position; however, summer employment opportunities exist. Although the primary duties for this position are instructional, involvement in service at the department, college, and university levels is also expected.
UF is located in Gainesville (www.visitgainesville.com), a city of approximately 250,000 residents in North-Central Florida, 118 miles from Orlando, 50 miles from the Gulf of Mexico, and 67 miles from the Atlantic Ocean. The area has moderate temperatures year round and hosts abundant wildlife, mature forests, prairies, lakes, and opportunities for many outdoor activities.
