As a member of the Division of Student Life team, the Coordinator of Inclusive Campus Engagement will work to advance the goals of diversity and inclusion at Washington & Jefferson College through a focus on programmatic engagement opportunities that meets the needs of a diverse campus community.  This position will also assume generalist responsibilities within the area of Inclusive Campus Engagement.  As a member of the Student Life Team, the incumbent will champion a student-centered approach in supporting holistic student development and success.

Duties and Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and assess campus programs and services aimed at supporting and retaining students from diverse ethnic, racial and socioeconomic backgrounds, including but not limited to students from traditionally underrepresented and underserved populations, as well as first-generation college students.

Provide campus-wide diversity and inclusion programming opportunities consisting of: monthly cultural heritage month celebratory events, diversity/social justice focused workshops such as the monthly Point of View Discussion Series, and partnering with areas within Student Life and across campus to provide regular training and workshop opportunities.

Organize programmatic and support services for students participating in targeted multicultural recruitment and retention initiatives, including the Charles West Scholars Program and YES Prep Program, in collaboration with the Admissions Office.  

Participate in campus-wide committees, such as the Student Success Work Group, where appropriate to incorporate the experiences and perspectives of students from diverse and underrepresented backgrounds. 

Serve in an advisory and support capacity for all multicultural student organizations, including: Asian Culture Association, Black Student Union, Gay/Straight Alliance, Hillel, Indian Student Association and Latino/a Culture Association. 

Plan the annual Supporting the Transition of Entering Presidents (S.T.E.P.) Pre-Orientation Program designed to support students from first-generation and multicultural backgrounds.

Serve as a resource and referral for all students at the College. 

Assist with large-scale divisional events.

Perform other duties as required, including evening and weekend events when necessary. 

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree.

Experience at the undergraduate level with diversity and inclusion leadership/programming in a higher education setting.

Demonstrated spirit of engagement through collaboration and the ability to work cooperatively with key stakeholders and constituent groups.
