Assistant Professor of English
The English Department at Tusculum College invites applicants for a full-time teaching position in Literature and Composition & Rhetoric. Candidates should be passionate educators who can facilitate the needs of diverse learners. Candidates should demonstrate a mastery of their specific discipline; a deep commitment to the College mission of providing a liberal arts education with pathways for career preparation, personal development, and civic engagement; technology competencies as well as teaching/advising skills and strategies that facilitate 21st century literacies; the use of resources that prepare students for productive lives; experience using various educational technological mediums (experience with online teaching and the development of online courses preferred). Additional responsibilities to include advising students, committee work, and departmental duties. Tusculum College places special importance on helping under-prepared students achieve academic success. All schedules require office hours and some may require evening and/or weekend hours. Salary is negotiable and dependent upon education and experience.
The anticipated start date will be August 2017; therefore, the review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
Candidates should have an earned PhD in English and an established record of successful teaching. The successful applicant will be expected to work closely with other members of the Division of Humanities to ensure student success.
