International Graduate Admissions Officer
Job Summary: The International Graduate Admissions Officer, working in association with the Director of Graduate Admissions and Recruitment and the Assistant Dean, develops a strategy for attracting and enrolling qualified international graduate students to the University of Alabama.
Additional Department Summary: The Assistant Director of Graduate Admissions and Recruitment works in association with the Associate Dean for Admissions, Recruitment, and Fellowships and the Director of Graduate Recruitment. The Assistant Director of Graduate Admissions and Recruitment oversees the international admissions process and participates in the recruitment of international students. Responsibilities include: 1) evaluating international transcripts and other documents submitted in support of applications; 2) determining eligibility for admission; 3) helping to design and implement an international recruitment strategy; 4) working closely with international agencies that support graduate students; 5) participating in recruitment activities; 6) working closely with departments to advise on the admissions and recruitment process; 7) leading initiatives for greater efficiency and customer service across all graduate admissions processes, and 8) working with prospective students at all steps in the admissions funnel. This position will work as a team member in a fast-paced workplace that is focused on growth in both quality and quantity of students. As part of our commitment to serving applicants in the best possible fashion, they will communicate daily with prospective students to ensure that they have all the information necessary to make an informed decision.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years in admissions related work for a post-secondary institution. Requires a thorough knowledge of the US educational system and how it operates in conjunction with such systems abroad. Experience with or a strong desire to work with divergent cultures and nationalities. Some travel required. Proficiency in basic computing skills.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree and 4 years of experience in admissions related work for a post-secondary institution
