Employment Status: Full time (29-40 Hrs)
The Apprentice Tradesman assists a certified or licensed skilled tradesman in all phases of work associated with a particular trade and is responsible for learning the duties in an apprentice training program. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Must provide customer service, event support and client relations in a professional and ethical manner.
Assist athletics, food services, facilities, box office, concessions, Marketing, Human Resources and all other clients.
Interpret written and verbal work orders.
Set-up for events and activities as required.
Perform all maintenance duties such as housekeeping, repairs, painting, P.M.'s and other duties as assigned.
Contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of the Convocation Center services and its customer's needs, and recognize opportunities to make improvements.
Interact with all staff and guests in a professional and ethical manner.
Follow schedules and troubleshoot/correct client related matters as needed.
Knowledge of basic measuring tools, equipment, and materials used in the various skilled trades.
Ability to perform manual labor under various working conditions, use hand and power tools in various working conditions, understand and follow oral and written instructions, and communicate information and ideas in various environments.
Skill in the use, operation, and care of tools and machinery.
Candidate must be available to work any day/any shift as needed, based on event schedule.
Availability to work after hours, weekends, or holidays as requested.
Candidates should possess knowledge of principals and practices of set-up for athletic and revenue generating events and the ability to operate sound, lighting and related equipment as needed.
Completion of sufficient education or training to read and write.
Two years of experience in a chosen trade field.
Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management.
Other job related Education and/or Experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements, except for certification or licensure requirements, upon approval or the qualifications review committee.
