Position Summary: The Associate Dean for Administration serves the School of Medicine as the institutional authority on all aspects of administration and business practices, reporting to the Executive Dean. The AD has both staff and line responsibilities: staff support and consultation to the Executive Dean, Vice Deans for Academic Affairs; Diversity and Inclusion; Faculty Affairs and Leadership Development; Research; Medical Education; and line supervision of the School's Offices of Business Operations, Human Resources, IT, and Facilities and Resource Planning. The AD is also the School's lead spokesperson on the broad range of administrative issues.

Education Requirements: Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required with three years or greater of related professional experience; for candidates demonstrating comparable professional backgrounds, will accept a relevant undergraduate degree and five years or greater of relevant experience in substitution.

Qualification and Experience: At least 7 years combination of experience and education, working in a position of substantial administrative responsibility is expected. The ideal candidate will have had experience in a peer institution academic health center, but is not an essential prerequisite for success in the AD position. The AD must possess superior verbal and written communications skills, excellent interpersonal behaviors, and capacity to inspire confidence in his or her reasoning and decision-making. Candidate should exhibit qualities of leadership and peer recognition in appropriate professional organizations, such as the Group on Business Affairs or Group on Institutional Planning of the Association of American Medical Colleges
