Job Description: This Journey Level EHS Professional position will provide support services for the University's Laboratory Safety program by conducting lab inspections and hazard assessments. They will conduct review of research grant proposals involving the use of hazardous materials and assist departments in development of laboratory safety plans and standard operating procedures for hazardous processes. The selected candidate will assist with industrial hygiene monitoring in labs to evaluate employee exposures. They will also conduct investigations of incidents that occur in labs and recommend corrective measures to prevent recurrence. This position will manage the University's Hazardous Chemical inventory (including hazardous drugs and controlled substances) and Hazard Communication programs including development, coordination and/or presentation of training for affected Faculty, Staff and students based on regulatory requirements and needs assessment. This position will also serve as a member of the University's HAZMAT response team.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a physical science, biological science, environmental science/engineering, occupational safety, industrial technology or related discipline; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Some positions may require additional training, certifications, or licensure. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Special Instructions to Applicants: This position is subject to the Career Banding Salary Administration Plan. If candidates are not identified at the Journey level, management may consider candidates at a lower competency level. Pay will be commensurate with applicant's competencies as well as budget, equity, and market considerations. Salary Grade Equivalent: 72 (for reduction-in-force priority purposes only)
