Bachelor’s degree in a health care or scientific discipline. Minimum of two (2) years of experience working in a research laboratory handling radioactive materials, operating and testing pneumatic and electronic nebulizers plus operating mechanical ventilators and humidifiers. Prior experience measuring aerosol particle size distribution.

Preferred Qualifications:

Training and experience in respiratory therapy, nuclear medicine, radiology, or other medical discipline. Ability to insert IV lines and to perform spirometry.

Brief Description of Duties:

The Project Support Specialist is needed to assist in aerosol studies and device development and assessment. The incumbent will perform in-vitro experiments in concert with other lab personnel and assist in in-vivo studies with the principal investigator.

  • Measure aerosol particle size distributions, using a cascade impactor, especially of certain antibiotic and interferon aerosols.
  • Work with radioactive materials and utilize a gamma camera for visualization and detection.
  • Test various performance parameters of pneumatic and electronic nebulizers.
  • Maintain detailed records of experimental activities, conditions and results.
  • Insert IV lines in human subjects.
  • Perform spirometry testing on human subjects.
  • Assist with training Pulmonary Fellows to perform in-vitro research experiments.
  • Special Notes: FLSA Nonexempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.
