Position Summery:

The Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics at the University of Colorado at Boulder invites applications for a professional research associate (PRA) position in the area of laboratory/flight software and electrical design to support spaceflight instrumentation programs. The successful candidate would work with Drs. Kevin France and Brian Fleming, whose research group has several active programs in the development and flight-testing of hardware for ultraviolet/optical astronomy, including a cubesat mission and a vibrant suborbital sounding rocket program.

Job Duties:

The primary responsibilities of this position are development of flight software for a cubesat mission, electrical design and testing for cubesats and rocket payloads, and laboratory and launch-site instrument integration and testing.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:



Familiarity with flight software and C programming is required.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or aerospace engineering or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience with electrical design, testing, and integration would be a strong attribute. Familiarity with embedded operating systems would also be desirable.
  • The position could include field work at cubesat integration facilities (e.g. Kennedy Space Center) and rocket launch sites, including White Sands Missile Range, Poker Flat Research Range, and Wallops Flight Facility; candidates who are able to spend 4-6 weeks per year supporting field operations will receive special consideration.
