Department Overview
UNT-International (UNT-I) is the administrative division charged with directing all aspects of UNT's international operations and partnerships. UNT-I is a growing and strongly supported organization and is central to the university's strategic internationalization.

In collaboration with UNT's colleges and schools, UNT-I is aggressively expanding the university's global reach. The division serves more than 2,500 international students and more than 100 foreign scholars, primarily on the Denton campus, with departments and offices including International Student and Scholar Services, Study Abroad, and the Intensive English Language Institute.

Job Description
UNT International at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Academic Financial Officer to join our team. This position assists the Vice Provost for International Affairs and each of the constituent units with administrative and fiscal management. The Academic Financial Officer is a strategic-thinking leader who is primarily responsible for all aspects of financial operations to include financial analysis, evaluation, planning, reporting and recommending the most efficient use of the division's resources. As a member of the leadership team, the academic financial officer will work closely with the Vice Provost to develop and coordinate the annual academic and operating budget planning process, forecast and predict resource requirements for new and existing programs, and develop funding strategies to ensure financial sustainability. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

* Leadership and strategic planning - serves as the principal financial advisor to the Vice Provost and as a member of the UNT-I leadership team.
* Budget Management and Monitoring - acts as principal account holder for UNT International and approves expenditures in accordance with all applicable policies and procedures.
* Compliance and Risk Management - Utilizes thorough knowledge of University fiscal and academic policy, procedures and practices to ensure compliance with university, state, and federal regulations and generally accepted accounting principles.
* Financial Analysis and Reporting - collects and analyzes data to ensure effective, efficient allocation of resources and provide meaningful financial information to UNT-I leadership.
* Internal/External Relations - serves as liaison between central administration and departmental staff, works collaboratively with university financial officials in budget preparation and financial projections, and responds to requests for financial information.
* Human Resource Management - directs and coordinates the administration of staff/faculty hiring, compensation and payroll and assists the Vice Provost and others in the development of hiring plans/projections and all personnel forms.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree with coursework in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field and six years of progressively responsible financial administration or budget management experience. Additional education may be substituted for required experience. Experience may not be substituted for education.

Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:

* Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field, CPA preferred.
* Experience working in administration at a four-year college or university.
* Experience with PeopleSoft financial management systems and Hyperion.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including Excel and Outlook.
* Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues as well as work independently, take initiative, and maintain confidential and sensitive information.
