Information Technology Services
Direct oversight and responsibility for all ongoing operational, strategic and educational activities related to the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Information Security and Privacy Office within Information Technology Services. Oversight and responsibility for performing periodic information privacy risk assessments and conducting related compliance monitoring activities in coordination with other compliance and operational assessment functions. Recommends and implements corrective measures as necessary. Provide strategic leadership for aligning information security and privacy with the University's academic and business needs, as well as providing leadership in addressing ongoing challenges related to funding, integrating and managing resources and technology.
Oversight and responsibility for developing, guiding, and assisting in the identification, implementation, and maintenance of organizational information privacy policies and procedures in coordination with appropriate administrative or executive offices including the Office of General Counsel. Work with Directors, senior university administrators and other members of the campus community to develop and implement a vision for a University Information Security Program and a Privacy Program that include a governance framework for both, incorporating appropriate decision making and communication structures that integrate effective security and privacy strategies and establishes institutional direction.
Promote collaborative approaches to managing information security and privacy resources, develop fiscally sustainable strategies to ensure ongoing maintenance of and enhancement to the University's Information Security and Privacy Program and minimize the impact of budget constraints.
Oversees, directs, delivers, or ensures delivery of privacy training and orientation to all employees, volunteers, medical and professional staff, contractors, alliances, business associates, and other appropriate third parties. Manage and grow the Information Security Program and build a foundation for the University Privacy Program to optimize available resources with the goal of enhancing service delivery.
Maintains current knowledge of applicable federal and state privacy laws and accreditation standards, and monitors advancements in information privacy technologies to ensure organizational adaptation and compliance. Coordinate the development of an effective operational framework that involves staff providing information security and privacy services in academic and administrative units.
Master's degree and six years of experience related to technology services or a Bachelor's degree and eight years of related experience.
Certified Info Systems Auditor (CISA)
Certified Info Sys Security Prof (CISSP)
Knowledge of and the ability to apply the principles and practices to strategically align tasks and people with organizational goals and objectives.
Experience communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
Ability to deal with crises and manage sensitive information.
Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply related federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules and regulations.
Knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply related University policies, procedures, principles, and practices.
Knowledge of cable, fiber, microwave networks, and satellite systems including the underlying theories and principles.
Knowledge of information technology security measures.
Knowledge of the concept, principles and practices of management.
Ability to utilize problem solving skills.
Ability to demonstrate critical thinking based upon in-depth data, substantiating information, considering and respecting others' input personal values, and ethics.
Experience developing and implementing policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.
Experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
The Information Privacy Pro (CIPP) and the Project Management (PMP) certifications are preferred but not required.
This is an A&P (Administrative and Professional) position.
