Position Summary:
Public Safety. The Public Safety Officer performs skilled work involving crowd and traffic control, criminal investigations, and protection of persons and property.

Essential Functions

  • Enforces local, state, and federal laws and ensures compliance with University policies.
  • Provides security for personnel, real property, and equipment.
  • Investigates and documents crimes/incidents, documents and preserves evidence, and provides legal testimony when required.
  • Performs campus patrol or serves as substation, victim/witness assistant, or crime prevention officer.

    Minimum Education Required:
    High School Diploma or equivalent; ability to obtain P.O.S.T. certification in Georgia as a basic law enforcement officer.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
    Effective communication (verbal and written), organization and human relations skills; ability to work well in a diverse environment; proficiency with computer and Microsoft Office Applications software including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases; successful completion of background investigation prior to employment.

    Salary Range: $27,540 - $33,033
