The Institutional Services Assistant is responsible for general cleaning of areas in and around office buildings, class rooms, lecture halls, conference rooms, auditoriums, resident halls, dining areas, building common areas, and other areas as required. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Deep clean all residential spaces and campus apartments as they become available, and all residential facility common spaces.
Clean furniture such as desk tops, tables, beds and other surfaces including sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, scrubbing and waxing floors as required.
Empty public trash receptacles and clean public and private bathroom facilities.
Cleaning laundry areas daily
Cleaning front entrances and around assigned work areas of all residential facilities
Delivering supplies to and from houses and apartments.
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge of basic cleaning techniques and cleaning equipment operation and maintenance.
Ability to follow instructions and perform repetitive manual work, use cleansers and other agents to clean floors and furniture, use housekeeping cleaning supplies and equipment, work independently without close supervision, follow oral and/or written instructions, perform multiple tasks and to prioritize assignments and perform repetitive manual work.
Candidate must be able to lift 50 lbs.
7 a.m.-4 p.m.
Availability to work after hours, weekends, or holidays as requested.
Heavy periods of overtime during the summer months.
Occasional shift work is required.
Candidate must possess a valid Drivers License.
Must be able to respond to after hours and weekend duty calls as needed.
The formal education equivalent of a High School Diploma.
Other job related Education and/or Experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements, except for certification or licensure requirements, upon approval or the qualifications review committee.
