Job Description Summary:

The Division of Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) is seeking Director of Development, Alumni Relations (DoD) for the George Washington University School of Business (GWSB) which reports to the Assistant Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations, GWSB. DAR is responsible for leading the university's alumni and fundraising efforts and seeks to promote a culture of philanthropy throughout the university community, including alumni, students, parents, faculty, staff, corporations and foundations, patients and other friends. Our goal is to advance GWUs mission of excellence in education, research, scholarship, and patient care.

The GW School of Business' academic mission is to be a preeminent business school recognized for scholarly research, teaching excellence, and innovative curricula; focused on the responsible management of organizations in the global environment. GWSB has an alumni community of over 50,000 located all of over the country and the world. Alumni Relations Development staff engage GW's more than 270,000 alumni located around the world and offers tools to connect and network, develops benefits and services, creates programs and events, provides opportunities to volunteer and give, and shares news and information.

The Director of Development, Alumni Relations will develop and deliver a strategic programming to foster strong relationships with all alumni of the School by engaging them in the life of the institution and one another. S/He is responsible for the overall administration of the GWSB Alumni Relations office including strategic planning, fiscal management, staffing and program development. This position will represent the GW School of Business to its 55,000 alumni, and will play a critical role in connecting alumni to the School to encourage a sense of pride and obligation to the school. The Director is responsible for driving the ongoing increase in alumni engagement through volunteer opportunities, participation in alumni programs and setting up philanthropic participation.

The Director of Alumni Relations, GWSB serves as a main point of contact on GWSB Alumni relations matters for internal partners including GWSB Administrators, GWSB Program Directors, MBA Admissions, Student organizations, Career Center, GWSB Marketing and Communications, and GW DAR. This position will also recruit, train, and engage alumni in volunteer programs including MBA Mentor program, UG and MBA Career Trek, GWSB Alumni Affinity groups and MBA Admissions. The Director of Alumni Relations, GWSB will work to engage prospects and board members where appropriate for moving their philanthropic relationship forward. This position will also be responsible for conceiving, developing, marketing, and promoting a wide variety of alumni events including social, professional development and lifelong learning. Collaborates with key internal stakeholders when appropriate to develop event strategy and maximize resources. Works with GWSB Deans, Administrators, Faculty Board members and high profile alumni to facilitate their role in these events. Hosts events local, domestic and internationally where GW has a strategic advantage and opportunity to showcase Deans/Faculty/Students. Collects and analyzes data to determine engagement level. Utilizes a variety of channels including print, web and social media to create and implement marketing and communication strategy.

This position will also provide strategic direction and leadership for the Alumni Relations, GWSB team and will support development priorities and stand in for the Assistant VP, making decisions on their behalf in senior meetings.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 6 years of relevant professional experience. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
