I. JOB OVERVIEW

Job Description Summary:

The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences is currently seeking a Program Manager, Standardized Patient (SP) Education for the Clinical Learning & Simulation Skills Center (CLASS). The Program Manger's basic function and responsibility is to develop education programs for the CLASS Center, and to participate in supervising and training standardized patients (SPs) who are used in the educational programs under the direction of the Director of Administration. Tasks include recruiting SPs, writing cases/scenarios, training SPs on cases, assigning work, and performing quality assessment of the SPs.
Works closely with CLASS Center Directors, staff, SPs, students, and faculty to plan and implement educational programs that utilize SPs, and ensure that the Standardized Patient Program meets the needs of all concerned.

Responsibilities Include:

• Recruits and supervises the SPs, documents SP participation, describes and assigns work of SPs, and performs SP quality assessments
• Designs and implements SP training protocols and cases/scenarios
• Maintains and uses confidential test materials appropriately in educational programming to prepare periodic SP project reports and maintain and update records/program files.
• Oversees student performance-based exams, including administering the exams using the Center's exam software, orienting students, and reviewing and reporting exam results
• Maintains professional knowledge/skills by attending and participating in meetings/ workshops/seminars and reviewing published literature.
• Performs other work related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 2 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master's degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience in training standardized patients and/or participating in the development of standardized patient education programs

- Working knowledge of medical interviewing, theatrical training, or organizational management

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a working knowledge of research protocols and academic writing
