Position Summary: The UNC Schools of Medicine, Public Health, Dentistry, Nursing and Pharmacy comprise one of the nation's few comprehensive academic health centers located on a world-class research campus. The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy has recently been designated the number one school of pharmacy in the 2017 edition of the US News and World Report. The Division of Pharmacotherapy and Experimental Therapeutics (DPET) in the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy, invites applications for a full-time, fixed term faculty position at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor in Pharmacometrics. This Division is a designated Pharsight Phoenix® Center of Excellence, and is a nationally recognized, dynamic and collegial faculty whose vision is to lead the nation in achieving excellence in innovative translational research, education, and progressive pharmacy practice to optimize drug therapy outcomes. We are currently substantially re-designing the graduate curriculum in pharmacometrics, using a 'flipped classroom' format with substantial hands-on applications. The Division also has vibrant fellowship and graduate programs, including an NIH-funded T32 postdoctoral training program in Clinical Pharmacology in collaboration with Duke University and the Hamner Institute for Drug Safety Sciences. The selected candidate will be a member of the pharmacometric faculty within DPET and will be expected to engage in teaching and/or service. The candidate will also be expected to be engaged in scholarly pursuits consistent with their appointment. Teaching will be in both the professional and graduate curricula. Responsibilities will include development and presentation of teaching materials (including instructional videos) and may also include working with honors or independent studies students in the PharmD program, serving as mentor on thesis or dissertation advisory committees for graduate students and training of post-doctoral fellows. The selected candidate will be expected to be engaged in scholarly pursuits, consistent with his or her appointment to the faculty. Publications could include those on the scholarship of pharmacometrics and/or biostatistics education. The candidate may also pursue traditional pharmacometrics research and may also collaborate with other scientists as co-investigator on on-going projects.
Education Requirements: A PharmD or a relevant PhD degree, with expertise in pharmacometrics and experience teaching pharmacometrics is required.
Qualification and Experience: Expertise and teaching experience in biostatistics is highly desirable. Requires a solid foundation of knowledge in the applied pharmaceutical sciences and contemporary pharmacotherapy. The ideal candidate possesses excellent communication skills and creativity. Must be highly motivated and able to work independently, with demonstrated experience in teaching pharmacometrics.
