The Department of Pediatrics Division of Pediatric Hematology & Oncology at the University of Virginia and University of Virginia Children's Hospital seeks candidates with strong academic stature as an established clinical, translational or basic science investigator for the position of Division Head. This tenure-track position will have clinical, teaching, research and administrative responsibilities. Salary, rank and tenure status are dependent upon qualifications and experience.
Candidates must have a MD or DO degree and be board-certified in pediatric hematology & oncology. To be considered for the tenured position, candidates must demonstrate scholarship and excellence in two domains consistent with the requirements for tenure in the School of Medicine. The incumbent should have excellent organizational and leadership skills, and have consistent external research funding. Demonstration of scholarship of application, synthesis, discovery or education is also required. Candidates with a clinical and/or research interest in bone marrow transplantation, immunotherapy, and/or brain tumors are preferred.
The Division of Pediatric Hematology & Oncology is a strong division, composed of senior and junior faculty, and offers a full range of services, including ambulatory and inpatient care. Faculty are active in basic, translational and clinical research. We offer active and expanding T-cell based immunotherapy and bone marrow transplant programs and a pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship. The Division is an active member of the COG and the nationally-ranked University of Virginia Cancer Center, where cellular-based immunotherapy and transplantation programs are also of keen interest. Significant resources have been committed to build a cGMP cell manufacturing facility slated to open in 2018.
