Job Summary:

Under general supervision, this position is responsible for performing paraprofessional human resoures activities in the areas of recruitment, classification, compensation, and other related payroll activities and human resources processes in the Administrative Center of Russell Labs. The position serves the Departments of Forest and Wildlife Ecology, Entomology and Plant Pathology. This group is comprised of over 400 faculty, academic staff, University staff, employees-in-training, and approximately 120-140 Graduate Assistants, fellows and students and serves the research, instructional, student services and outreach activities, with research expenditures exceeding $33 million annually. The Departments have a variety of funding sources, many from Federal and non-Federal grants and awards.

The individual must be able to manage multiple, multi-faceted, detailed responsibilities ranging from the day-to-day to extremely detailed activities. The incumbent will be privy to confidential records and conversations that directly affect the employer employee relationships referred to in 111.81 Wisconsin Statutes. The employee in this position is expected to demonstrate exceptional customer service by establishing and maintaining professional relationships with managers, supervisors, coworkers, and all customers; maintain confidentiality of sensitive information with tact and discretion; use effective team skills to contribute to the efficient operation of the work unit; present ideas, carry out assignments, and provide information as required; and effectively share knowledge and skills obtained through professional development.

Professional communications, workplace sensitivity, and diplomacy are essential. Position responsibilities require the exercise of individual initiative, independent judgment, and discretion.

General hours are 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
