Position Description

Advertised Job Summary

This is a fast-paced, high volume human resources office that is seeking an administrative assistant to carry out a wide range of office management responsibilities. Duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Serves as first point-of-contact HR Operations and Services; Responsible for screening and routing, greeting visitors.
Receives various transaction requests from the Columbia and system campuses via various methods and enters key information into SharePoint Tracking Log. Assists with sending out notifications to HR Contacts. Assists Classification and Compensation with various position management transactions.

This position requires great attention to details, ability to multi-task and verbal/written communication skills.

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)

Bachelor's degree and 1 year of work experience that is directly related to the area of employment, or high school diploma and 5 years work experience that is directly related to the area of employment; or equivalency. Customer service experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience in a fast-paced, high volume office environment.


Requires familiarity with HR and USC policies and procedures; familiarity with data spreadsheet and email software, including Microsoft Office; ability to deal effectively with all levels of employees and the general public; requires the ability to understand and carry out complex oral and written instructions and to use judgment and discretion in dealing with highly sensitive and/or confidential information. Ability to prioritize projects. Attention to detail and able to multi-task.
